You must have at least a recognized tertiary qualification
You must upload a copy of your highest qualification and your latest CV / Resume
You must have several years work experience – it will be advantageous if you have experience in Journalism, Public Relations or a related field
If you have professional financial journalism experience
You must be able to upload one recent sample of your best written, published work
If you are not a financial journalist, you must be ready to upload 2 items:
A brief writing sample on a relevant financial journalism related topic, and
A motivational essay of no more than 750 words: Through this essay, you have the opportunity to explain why you would like to participate in the BMIA Executive Program and highlight your interest in and/or expertise on issues related to economic analysis and financial, journalism. Examples of relevant issues include: public policy, transparency, accountability, financial data and oversight
You may type both of the above in a single document but must clearly mark which paragraph is the writing sample and which paragraph is the motivational essay
If you work in broadcast journalism
You may submit a comprehensive script. Unfortunately no soundbites or video clips can be processed.
You should have a good understanding in financial numeracy and be computer literate, with a sound working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
You must be ready to complete a quick 20 minute 20 question multiple choice quiz to assess your baseline numeracy ability (please have a calculator at hand)

Places are limited on this lecture based program. By completing and submitting this application, you acknowledge and commit as follows:
Attendance: Intake 4 will take place January – July 2017 (6 study blocks) Attendance is compulsory - please ensure you have the necessary leave or written permission/ commitment from your employer to attend at all times.
Travel: If you are based outside of the country you wish to attend (SA, Nigeria or Kenya), you are responsible for all travel, accommodation and VISA arrangements and expenses
Registration Fee: A $250 fee is requested as indication of your commitment to the program. On the application form, you will need to indicate if you, your employer or a sponsor will be responsible for payment. Should financial circumstances present a challenge, you may request a waiver and will be required to provide suitable motivation and evidence.
Data Connectivity / Internet Access: It is essential that you have a laptop and arrange sufficient connectivity during this program:
Lecture content, class exercises, tests and assignment submissions are done via a Blackboard Portal called Aspire
Delegates on the program will also be granted 6-month subscription to the world renowned Bloomberg Terminal. This requires downloading a 9MB software file and ongoing connectivity to access the platform.
